Huckleberry picking is a tradition at my house. We wait all summer to go up into the mountains to pick the sweetly tart berries. Locals will share their favorite huckleberry patch locations like they would their favorite fishing hole or hunting grounds...NOT AT ALL!
Fun Facts:
You can buy picked huckleberries for around $50 a gallon. We call it Purple Gold at our house.
It is notoriously hard to domestically grow huckleberries.
Huckleberry plants usually do not produce fruit for 5-7 years.
